Google Labs tosses its proverbial hat in to the land of virtual reality

Google is the most recent contender in the land of virtual reality, launching a public beta version of Google Lab’s Lively this week. Lively invites you to pretty much create a virtual world to chat with friends in, complete with avatars which can theoretically mimic reality.
While I’m not surprised that Google Labs has concocted an expansivee virtual realm, the lack of widespread usability seems to be an issue with users already. I’m sure that issue will eventually be resolved, and by that point, it will be interesting to see what kind of branding and marketing may exist in the Lively universe.

Sounds like pretty standard google. A fascinating article from the Harvard Business Review talks about their philsophy of ubiquity before usability. Very different it seems from Apple’s model, which seems to be the exact opposite.
