Linerider can sell hamburgers?

The rapidly growing phenomenon of co-opting internet trends (i.e. virals and games) for advertising and marketing purposes is in full swing, and McDonalds is the newest player to step up to the plate. They’ve taken Linerider and created a typical McDonalds ad out of it.
As Cory O’Brien succinctly notes,

Typically, when McDonalds hops on board, you know your product has jumped the shark.

Honestly, I’m not sure there’s much to it other than the “wow, that’s cool” effect. It’s not really any different than the thousands of other impressive Linerider clips out there, except for the McD’s branding. I’m not really craving a hamburger any more than I was a minute ago… and I’d be willing to bet a few people are a bit less attracted to Linerider now.
