Hey Kids, Eat This.
Childhood obesity and marketing tactics: a match made in heaven. Well, at least for critics who enjoy drawing quick causality between ad campaigns and Chunky Susie begging for Ho-Hos for breakfast.
Now there’s a new concept in the quest to keep kids fit (and no, I’m not talking about Subway offering raisins and milk). Introducing Kidfresh, which positions itself as a "Whole Foods for kids." Pre-packaged, balanced, portion-controlled meals, made with fresh (mostly organic) ingredients, served up in fun packaging and color-coded by age group. The first location is on 2nd Ave in NYC.
Smart idea, but at $5-7.25 per kiddo-meal, you’re certainly paying for novelty. (Okay, granted, it’s NYC, but still…)
If it’s healthy and fun you’re looking for, I’d recommend stealing their tactics and using cookie cutter on a turkey sandwich. I’m already thinking about what zoo animal I should pack for myself tomorrow…
