2006 in Your Words

2006<span class=armano.jpg” />David Armano, in all his bloggy goodness, has put together a conglomeration of thoughts answering the question…

What was the most significant event/aspect of 2006 in regards to marketing, advertising or user experience?

I must say, it’s kind of inspirational, and a great window in what
could be to come as the ball drops and we move into the new year.

Some of my favorites:

“The year marketers shat themselves and realised they might have to (a) listen and (b) share power with consumers”

-Kevin Keohane

“On the business side…consumers want and are demanding the same
disclosure, authenticity and accessibility (read intimacy) from the
companies they do business with.”

-Drew Mclellan

“With the democratization of, well, everything, we’ve become
empowered and we’ve gone from a broadcast and control to a share
mentality.”

-CK

I think that the most significant development in marketing for 2006,
was companies realizing that their communities of customers are
actually empowered marketing PARTNERS for their messages.

-Mack Collier

The entire presentation is here. Great stuff.

  1. Paul: You rock for this post. And I love that you said "in all his bloggy goodness" because that’s exactly what he does–and continues to surprise us each time.
I had to print it out because it was so full of gems. Isn’t it nice to have a record of this year? Thanks DA!

  2. Definitely, big thanks to DA!
