   I would have liked to have seen a stick-figure representation of “do you have a condom?” (perhaps a finger-point downwards and subtle phallic gesture) and then a mutual shrug… and then they immediately proceed anyway.

   Hmm. That’s probably slightly too complex for stick figures.

   Keep in mind that the target is “youth”. I think they wanted to spell it out a bit for them. Call me old fashioned, but I’m still a little weirded out by the actual need for awareness posters that specifically target youth. When I was a kid, youth were targeted with D.A.R.E. and after school basketball.

   i know HIV is still a problem, but these ads are way too dramatic. pretty much laughable for anyone who actually has educated themselves about the disease.

   chances of hiv transmission from vaginal penetration are VERY low. perhaps this is why dude has her bent over the chair in the last “sex” diagram.

   also, HIV does not = AIDS. a number of health factors all have to come into play, usually over the course of years or decades, for hiv to “become” aids. in fact, many doctors are proposing that we can’t even make a connection between hiv and aids.

   Protection is vital outside a committed relationship, but overblown scare-tactics like this poster are counterproductive in my opinion.

   I dunno True. Given how young kids are experimenting now-a-days, and the lack of true education in schools, it may be better to have them running scared for a few years. Yeah, I’d rather see them properly educated, but I’m not sure many of them are ready to listen to that education (even if we were to find a better way to make it happen).

   Maybe if the final message in the poster were something to do with the necessity of protection rather than simply sex=death, it would be more effective. Something like a family tree type of chart that shows the various paths you might end up at with and without. I dunno, I’m rambling.
